Sri Ram Navami April 20-4-2013 - When is Shri Rama Navami in 2013?

Sri Ram Navami is celebrated on April 20 2013 (Saturday). Shri Ram took birth at noon on 'Shukla paksha' Navami, (ninth day from Amavasya) in the Chaitra month.

Lord Vishnu took avatar as Lord Ram to destroy the demon Ravan and uphold Dharma. Sri Rama Navami marks the end of nine-day Chaitra-Navratri celebrations.

Sri Ram Navami is also the day when Sri Ram married Sita. 'Sree Sitarama Kalyana Mahotsav' is held in many places to mark this occasion. 

Sri Ram Navami Celebration:

At many places, statues or images of Lord Ram will be placed in cradles and swung with devotion using flower ropes.

Akhand Paath Pravachanam i.e., continuous recitals of Ramayana will begin days in advance. Singing of bhajan, devotional keertans will be held at many places.

At temples special homams, abhishekam, puja, aarti will be done amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. Special flowers and fruits are offered to Lord Ram.

Lakhs of devotees will throng the temple to have the darshan of Lord Rama and Goddess Sita. Utsav Murthi of Lord Rama will bless devotees in the mada veethis of Temple.
